My name is COVID: 19

Although you know me as Coronavirus. Sorry I arrived without warning and by surprise. Everything has a meaning.

You may have wondered a thousand times why I am here? Very simple, I was fed up.

Tired of how you go backwards instead of projecting something good with what you have been given. I was sick of how you destroy yourself with your own hands.

Tired of how you treat the planet with the brutality of wars and conflicts, devoid of logic.

Tired of how you treat poverty and hunger and your absurd prejudices.

Tired of your hypocrisy, social envy and selfishness.

Tired of the little time that you dedicate to yourself, family and friends. I was sick of the superlative value you place on superficial things.

Tired of your disinterest in the essential needs of humanity, for what really matters.

I was fed up with how you always seek to dress to impress, acquire the newest mobile and the flashiest car: your desire to just own.

I was tired of how much you deceive yourself and behave without interest for everything around you.

I was tired of the limited time you spend to communicate and your continuous complaints for minimal questions, reasons and of your unhappiness.

And, above all, for your lack of attitude to change them.

I know I am hard on the human species, maybe too hard. I do not contemplate races, religions or social classes: I am a virus.

You are fragile.

What I want you to understand is easy: awaken you to see the social limits in which you live, so that you can eradicate them.

I have brought your lives to a sudden halt, because I intend that, from now on, you dedicate your energy to the only important thing: life.

To change it, share it, caress it and take care of it.

I wanted you to be isolated in your homes, separated from your grandparents, parents and children so that you finally understand the value of a hug, a conversation, a handshake, an afternoon with friends or a walk outdoors.

And many more things, which you will surely appreciate now.

Think about what the planet has regenerated with your absence.

Now the pollution in the sky, air and water decreases.

Be aware of how little you have to do to conserve the ecosystem and use that to help you establish a turning point.

The before and the after.

Don't make me come back, because I will do it with more virulence, just perhaps under another name.

Understand that you are all the same.

Makes no difference to me, the virus, I am just passing through, but you will still exist: the union, compassion, solidarity, cooperation and help that you have obtained thanks to me in such a short time, do you want to lose all of them now?

It will be your responsibility to take care of them, so that they will remain.

Live simply. Walk slowly. Take a deep breath.

Do good.

Enjoy nature, enjoy family, enjoy everything that makes YOU happy.

Life is here and now.

When you come back to your normal life, celebrate that I'm gone.

But, with warning, never forget to be better people, remember who you were before I arrived and cherish what you have already become.

It is goodbye to this old way and I hope it is definitive; a point and apart, although everything will depend on you.

Think that: everything has a new beginning.

*Please take a moment to reflect on how this makes you feel, what you think and how you would respond if you were sent this email?

Would you go backwards? Back to the brutal, uncaring, prejudice and selfish humanity we were living just a few mere weeks before?
